It's a pain in the a........ but you should remove them, rinse, let dry and store them so dust and dirt doesn't collect on them. It's ok to leave them in for a day or two. The yellow film on the chrome anode will eventually prevent it from plating, scrub it off with a scotchbrite pad. The manual tells you how to form a protective brown film that will prevent the yellow from forming.
