bzer1 is right...you may actually get better grounding because of the added weight of the parts on the rack. The weight of the rack may help make contact if there was any ground issues. You have to be sure that if you add density, you don't skimp on quality ground cleaning! This is maybe what your powder guy meant. Sometimes, it is necessary to clean to ground portion of each part on your rack prior to powder coating. If the rack has too many hang locations, your employee/s may not clean them as well as they should, reducing grounding and producing potential rejects. I'm not sure if this is the case you have, but in the industry world, it happens regularly. In industry, the racks are sometimes cleaned as they pass by a person grinding the rack on the conveyor. The line speed usually determines how clean the person gets each hang location. Not the best choice.
