You can do this on-line at
https://www.state.pa.us/PAPower/site/default.asp you want to file a DBA or sole propritiership (?sp) . You will not do sales tax on your service but if you sell a product then you would charge a sales tax in PA. You provide a service so no sales tax. You will be charge a tax based on your income from business.
Once you fill out the DBA form you can then print it and it will become your Proof of your Company name. DO NOT LOSE IT... Any and all bank and tax records will have your company name plus DBA ( ex Back Yard Powder Coating DBA James R Shuster) ..
