I just joined Caswell and didn't notice a reply to your post. So even though it's been awhile since u posted... I hope this helps. You cannot plate over zinc. It must be removed by soaking the part in a mixture of 50% muriatic acid and water. Soak until all the zinc has been dissolved and proceed as if plating raw steel. Since your piece is ALL zinc, it cannot be plated.
