I too found a digital thermometer at walmart.
in my store there are a different varieties of indoor/outdoor
over where the screen window/door repair center supplies are
located. This one does not have a metal spike, but instead a
small plastic housing that I attatched to the inside wall of my
plastic tanks and run the wire thru a grommet sealed with
silicone. this model features storable readings with min and max,
conversion to Celcius and simultaneous indoor/outdoor readings.
so far the plastic housing has held up well in my anno tank, my dye tank
(135dg) and my cleaning tank (125dg).
At $8 I bought 1 for each need.
