Re: want educated on caswells new gun
kw is the kilowatts of high frequency electricity that the gun produces. like a static spark. the higher the gun the more charge it will impart to the powder. as for what is better i cant say as i still use a competitors so called pro gun that only puts out about 25kv and the hobby gun you have is rated at 16kv. i have issues with multi layer coating as well. i think the key is as always said prep is important when shooting the second coat a good ground will help lots but if the power is not enough to go through the first coat(powdercoating is an insulator by the way) then you may have issue with the second coat sticking/clinging. the cheat for this is to heat the part up to about 100-150 degrees and then shoot the second coat. if you shoot at full temp as i and many have done then you risk getting sags and uneven coats. also if you make a mistake it is set and cant be fixed easily. i know this since i am in the process of stripping a chopper frame that i screwed up by hot shooting.
