Default Re: Weber 40 IDL die cast body finish

I just got back from Hershey 2006 gigantic swap meet for old car parts! It is truly wonderful and a joy to experience.
I can report however, that i viewed the largest collection of vendors selling poorly finished carburators i have ever seen in my life. I used to think that all the bead blasted, unfinished rebuilt carbs were lacking some thought on the part of the rebuilder.
But..............now you see .......
1) gold metalflake paint.
2) ******** gold cad spray paint
3) barbeque silver spray paint
4) shiney zinc plate
5) yellow gold chromated shiney zinc

i found myself wincing every time i passed a rebuilt carb display, ouch!

evidently the Stromberg, Holley, Carter, and other carburator companies have taken their cast body finish secrets to their graves? I must be lacking in my research to find what actually existed from 1955 thru 1995. I thought i was paying attention. i dont recall any of these finishes on any period carb i ever saw. Anybody got advise on finding the actual finish specs or processes from any carb company?
thanks for any help
