Default Re: powder coating wood??????

Pickle,

I believe MDF is medium density fiberboard. Which is one of the more popular wood type products that is currently being powder coated. Most wood will release excessive amounts of moisture during the curing process so as a coater you are quite limited on what can be coated. I've had moderate success with MDF and with some hardwoods, but it's still dependant on how "wet" the product is. Although I only experimented I think successful coating of wood products still comes down to working out the correct process. The problem with coating wood is that it is a relatively small market and is for the most part done in a production facility. I have only had 1 customer ask about it and he ended up using spray paint.
