i agree with pickleboy, also if your transmission case is very rough you can sand it down wth 100 or 120 grit to remove all sharp edges and casting marks before blasting to get an even smoother finish
for special show bikes i sometimes polish parts to almost mirror finish before painting and then wetsand and buff the paint
but that is the high end limit,not all customers want to pay for that
