I haven't done this, but can offer some thoughts...
If the trim is thin, it may be too flimsy to polish after stripping.
If the trim is thin, it may be reduced to nothing after stripping.
If the the parts a heavy, they should be able to withstand stripping and polishing, but think about thier size and required tank and power source requirements. Is it cheaper than just buying new?
To test for ano, use a volt/ohm meter, and check to see if the part conducts electricity. If it does, its chrome. If not, it's ano.
