Default Re: Stripper

Hey guys.... New to the forum, been lurking for a few months, learning as much as I can.... anyway I'm real fustrated and need some help/advice on stripping a part...

I've been trying to strip the factory coating from the top triple clamp on my motorcycle (Honda) and am at wits end. I've used Aircraft Stripper from Autozone, Citrastrip from H/D, Eastwood Paint and Powdercoat Remover (took a very slight amount of tint off the coating... in 2 days of soaking), and just tried some nasty smelling "Zip-Strip" and still the coating is there. I was able to get through the coating to the aluminum using a wire wheel on my bench grinder, which wouldn't be too bad for the top side, but the underside would be a bit of a pain, there are some real tight areas, and I'm ticked at the fact I'm 4 products in the hole cash wise and still have nothing to show for it.

Aside from wire wheeling it, or taking it to get blasted (which is probably the best way, I know).... has anyone stripped (chemically) a stock Honda triple (black color) form a recent sportbike (CBR/RC51/VTR/etc)? And if so, what did you use. Im tempted to try the "naked" Gun Cleaner, mentioned in this thread, but if that didn't work my head might explode!!!!

Thanks for any help in advance.

J.
