On small bobs or wheels I usually use three coats; on 8" wheels, two. The more coats, tha longer you can go between loadings. You need to make sure a layer is completely dry before applying the next.

Also, with felt bobs I usually use a hacksaw blade or sharp knife to make lengthwise cuts around the bob (not too deep) - it gives the greaseless a way to stick better.

Additionally, when I use felt bobs with regular compound, I clean them with a hacksaw blade or 80-grit paper.
