It's on the wheel whether you think you can see it or not. A 2-second jab onto a spinning wheel every few minutes is enough.

What stage are you at with the intake? Have you sanded it up to at _least_ a 320 grit? If you're truly at the emery (black compound) stage, it doesn't take a lot of compound to do the polishing, and less compound for subsequent steps. To get between runners I have to use felt bobs, small wheels, mushroom wheels, and a variety of other tools.

If this was easy, there wouldn't be a market for our services.
