Ive thought about that "old station wagon" door style as i call it if it opened from the side. Im a bit concerned about too much heat spreading that way tho. The inner skin's only metal connection to the outside on my design is around the doorway. Im not sure how id want to hinge a door like that either. My best thought would be a top hinge so the door can flip up and out of the way with pull latches on the bottom sides.

for heating, ive been thinking it may be better to put all the heat up higher and run a convection fan for even heating. This free's up the bottom for more abuse... say, a 200 lb or so axle. im just thinking its generally gonna be easier to support part with ground based racks than hooks. You should be aiming for 12000 watts with 4 elements, this will pull 50A and keep you under standard wiring like mine
