Me a Newbie too, kinda sorta
Anyway, I've read on a forum, not sure which one, that a few different ways have been used with success. One was, using your finger to remove the powder, two was, using a damp Q-tip, three was, using a damp small sponge rubber paint brush. Not wet, just damp. All after you get it coated.
I haven't run into this yet, but am sure I will.
