I am not so happy with how it came out. The gold was hard to stick and would stick fine, but would then start to repel itself from the valve cover (which was outgassed and bead blasted perfectly).
I sprayed it with the Xtreme chrome fully cured and cooled to room temp, and then fully cured the gold again.
I love the effect it had on most parts, but because I sprayed the areas that repelled more than the rest, it has some darker spots.
So now I am wondering what to do. Should I do my other valve cover in a different color like a metallic bronze or something, or better yet:
Can I spray the candy gold top coat RIGHT ON the bead blasted aluminum? It has a "brilliant silver" finish before coating it chrome (which by the way looked great... the xtreme chrome) so maybe I could get away with just "top coating" the raw aluminum with gold?
