this is what i do most, polishing itself is not the problem but cleaning the polished part is very important ,also sheap castings are very porous so it could cause problems even if not polished,
heres how i prep a polished part
after polishing i clean with regular thinner then i clean in very hot water with mild soap (make sure you are using a soap tht does not affect the polishing)
rinse with very hot water , dry then outgas for about 40 minutes at 390
let cool then clean with acetone and then paint
