I have quite a few old metal snowmobile shocks laying around and was wondering if anyone had tried to replate the shocks. The ones I have are the old hydraulic ones which I do not think can be rebuilt or taken apart. I think if this is possible, I would like to try the acid copper/copy chrome kit on them.
Any ideas or past experiences are appreciated,

Dan;
A hundred years ago, before the advent of hundreds of vendors supplying thousands of identical "custom parts" for Choppers (Harleys), I, and a number of other folks, had the shock that mounted on the "Springer" Front End (fitted to "Knucklehead" hawgs) chromed.. It's a good thing it was done "for looks" as the chromed shock did little or nothing to dampen the "bounce" of the Springer... especially at freeway speeds (70+).. of course I didn't know if the shock was functioning before it was chromed, or not, but I guarantee you, it wasn't after it was chromed.. Something to keep in mind when thinking about the functional outcome of chroming a new/working snowmobile shock..
