The schematic shown in this thread is using a 220V contactor/relay and is wired as such to the thermostat. if you use an SSR that is controlled by DC voltage, you need to use the terminals that are designated as the SSR output and aboandon the whole jumper scenario. If you have anykind of of documentation that identifies each terminal on the thermostat I can help you make a schematic that will not "smoke".
