Default Vibratory media questions

Hi,

I recently purchased a small vibratory shaker pot from Harbor Freight. I'd like to clean up some nuts & bolts for a motorcycle restoration I'm doing. I'm not sure as to what kind & grade of media thats best to use for this application. I'm reading / finding out that there are many different grades & types of media . I purchased the only media Harbor Freight had to offer in the store at the time which was a green rust cutting abrasive resin that are triangular shaped. The motorcycle bolts/nuts/small hardware I have are not really rusty , just weathered & aged. I also have some very small aluminum pieces that I'm concerned the rust abrasive media may be to aggressive for. The test lot of used steel bolts/nuts that I ran thru it for about 8-9 hrs. came out OK but are pretty dull looking. I'm look-n for a better finish. Sure would appreciate any advice/tips/etc anyone could share about how to use / applications for some of the other various medias such as walnut & corncob. I see that they come in different grades. Also any advice on media polish or other additives greatly appreciated.

I'm new to the world of aluminum polishing & want to thank you guys & Caswell for the wealth of knowledge thats being shared here. I've learned a lot from this site & have begun purchasing supplies here. Its becoming a fun / interesting new hobby for me. Thanks!!
