I have found that after you have a good flash copper base of at least 30- 60 minutes, then applying the plum-loy with a brush to fill the pits and heating with a propane torch from the opposite side, to the point that it forms a black residue that can be wiped off using a damp cloth. You can then sand with wet/dry sandpaper 120+ grit and then buff out the sanding marks that you have created. Once this is done you can acid copper the part and buff it out to a mirror defect free finish.
