"#6 & #7 are the SSR output and this is what I don`t understand fully. Does the SSR only control one leg of the 220 circuit ? Does the other leg connect directly to the heating elements ?"
The SSR outputs on the controller are DC voltage so both get connected to the input side of the SSR. Most SSR's will only switch one leg of a 240vac element. That is why I use a master disconnect before opening or working on anything within the oven. The second leg of the 240vac circuit does connect directly to the element.
"If I`m understanding correctly, u hook both legs up to #1 & #2, jump off #2 to one side of heating element. The SSR output connects to the other side of heating element ? If thats correct, whats the 4th hookup on the SSR for ?"
If you want to run your controller on 240vac then #1 & #2 get 'hot' feeds. Most of these controllers can also operate on 120vac. You can jumper off one side of the controller to the element, but that's not necessary as you can wire it direct. 4th hookup?(The 2 SSR inputs connect to the controller 6 & 7, the other 2 are relay contact points, 1 coming from the source and the 2nd going to one side of the element(s)).
