disaster with first try
Tried to coat a couple motocross bike parts. They are covers and are made of magnesium. One is kind of flat while the other is about the size of a very wide cup. Both have raised lettering.
The shallower one came out.......fair with some orange peel and some miss around the bottoms of the letters.
The second one was soo bad. The powder wouldn't go into the corners even with no power active. By the time I got a little into it, the other area was way too thick.
I am using black with the Harbor Freight PC gun. Air pressure at 20 lbs. Holding the gun at about 10 inches but tried all different distances. Heated the second one up a bit, but just can't get the powder to go into the corners.
The powder does stick, but I see no evidence that it is attracted to the part. Do I need a better gun or am I missing something?
Could/should I lay the parts flat and do one side at a time?
Maybe I should try bowling instead.
