Default Oil Rubbed Brass Plumbing Fixture Look

Is there some way to get an "oil rubbed brass" look for a bathroom plumbing fixture renovation project? I'm looking for that trendy look that is a brown patina on brass. Any ideas on how to get that look?

The fixtures that I want to change the appearance of are brass underneath a clear coat over a bright brass gold looking finish.....very 1995.

In looking around the site I came across the Chocolate Brown "Metal Finishing Solution" Maybe I should just buff down to the brass and dip in that solution. Has anyone tried it? How Durable is it? Would a laquer top clear coat help with durability?

Two sinks, a tub, and shower...New fixtures will run over $1,000 plus installation, if the "Metal Finishing Solution" will work it would be a great savings........Any ideas?
