The EEE.E is an out of range indication on the process value, is the TC polarity correct? On my PID the only time that the set button is used is to change the operating parameters of the PID. Out of the box, I only needed to use the up button to raise the set value, and the down button to decrease the set value. Actually it takes two pushes of the up or down button to make the desired set temp change. Do you have the PID instructions?
