Strong acids react with the addition to water. Hopefully you didnt add the acid first or it would have spit acid everywhere and probably melted your tank. A 3:1 ratio is water : battery acid(a mix of 1/3 sulfuric already). So roughly 9 gallons of water to every 1 gallon of acid. Allow it to cool and try to do a batch with it.
