Correct. The pickup tube is the curved one. The fludizer is the stubby chrome one with the one hole in it. And yes, they are partly hidden. When you call, ask the tech if it would void the warranty. If I remember right, the time I called, he had said that that is a problem. A 1/8 hole is to large, so when you decide to do the mod, get the hole size like the one there.
The shaking that you do, is because the powder needs to be fludized and that is the only way you can, until the mods are made or turn up the air. And even then, you need to do some. Turn up your air a little at a time until the powder comes out good (the sweet spot) and don't forget the knob on the end of the handle. It will also control the air to the powder. The gun is a good gun for the money, you just have to keep messing with it till you learn the way it works. I waited until the warranty was up to modify mine too. Should have done it sooner. Oh well.
