I have started to sand this down by hand but 4 hours later I realised I hadnt even managed to do one tenth of one wheel I realised I may need some help.

What would you guys reccomend to use to get the surface flat before I can start on the polishing work?

I have seen some 80 grit greaseless compound mentioned, is that gonna be quicker?
anything will be faster then hand sanding , the size of polishing wheel you use with the greaseless will have a big impact on the polishing time
