I have both, and prefere the linear...
The constant clicking of the relays in the switcher bothers me.
They are physically lighter, therefor less to ship.
They are slightly cheaper.
My linear seams to hold the current a little more steady.
On a side note, the one failed unit that I had to get replaced under warranty was a linear.
