You want to get your wheel speed to around 5,000 Surface Feet Per Second with aluminum. You may not have enough wheel speed depending on what size wheels you're using.
Also, adding a little compound quite often works better than adding a lot of compound infrequently. The wheels should not be depositing compound on the part as you work.
Also, try turing your direction of polishing 90 degrees to the last compound. That'll help with scratches and the hazing.
