Thread: Finally getting started

  1. #1

    Default Finally getting started

Bought the Caswell standard kit a while ago, but never had time to mess with it or ever get it set up. Forgive my ignorance with anodizing, but as i just stated, I'm new.

For now I plan on just using the buckets that came with the kit, until i get a little experience under my belt, and have the need to expand.

I need to get some things sent to me that were left back home when I moved. The 2 glass heaters and the Air pump. I also need to obtain the 1 gallon of Sulfuric Acid, then I should be good to go.

I have the Model HY3020E power supply as well.

I've been reading over the manual, but does anyone have any little hints, tips or tricks for me since i'm just getting started? I'll probably be posting back more once I start setting up to get more help on specifics since the pictures in the manual aren't the best in the world.

Hopefully in a few weeks time I'll be posting up proud pictures of my work! Until then, I'll be waiting to hear everyone's advice and tips/tricks!

Not sure about tips and tricks, thats prety broad. Just follow the instructions, and then if you do run into a problem we're all here happy to help.

Distilled water, if you don't want to buy from the store, you can purchase a R.O. Water System. Their a couple hundred, but you save in the long run.

Distilled water isn't that expensive where I get it from, $1 a gallon. I occasionally go get 5 gallon jugs, so I don't notice it that match.

anything thats purified w/ reverse osmosis. i got a 5gal jug and i refill it for $2.50 at a machine outside the liquor store right next to my house.

no tips or tricks for you as ive only been doing it a couple months, just read every post in this place and do some runs. the kinks will work themselves out over time.

but i would advise to put a diode in the Mastech, or i just connect the leads before turning on the power supply to avoid any kick back in current. These chinese machines die easily.

where do you hook the diode? On the positive side between the item and the machine?

I hope you're getting battery acid, and not lab grade acid.
    I do things.
