    Default pump requirements

Okay, my 1/2HP chiller requires at least 750 GPH for smaller tanks (and smaller meaning 100 gallons)

My tanks is around 35 gallons.

I am set on the little giant HC brand

    but what about size

It is either the 1/25HP or the 1/8HP (which is double the price)

I am thinking I only need the 1/25 because of my tank size.

Would I be correct? or am I going to regret buying the smaller size?

The 3-MD-HC I run on a 60 gal. tank was also run on my 20 gal. tank. It is rated at 720GPH. It works fine on either tank.
Things to remember with MD(magnet drive) pumps
You need to run the size pipe that the pump is set up for on the inlet side.
You may restrict the output of the pump but not the input side.
You can restrict the output of the pump, this will decrease the volume output of the pump but increase the pressure going into the tank to increase agitation.

Side note on pumps and chillers. Chillers are designed for a certain flow rate to chill properly. Too great of flow will decrease the chillers ability to chill. You can take a higher output pump and restrict it down to the needed flow rate.

Tip on new set up. Leave the acid out of the tank at first. Use tap water. Set up the pump, chiller and plumb the tank. Check the flow with the tap water. You can also put a slight amount of ground black pepper in to check for dead spots in the flow. Hang some trial pieces in to see the effects of a parts load on the flow. Let run long enough to check for leaks or problems. You can also try different plumbing set ups before gluing any PVC. A few hours or days doing this will be worth the effort. After everything is to your liking, drain , rinse, and mix the electrolyte.
