Thread: am I being ripped off.

Default am I being ripped off.

I need some advise. I work as a graphic design. Im also into paintball and needed my gun reaodized. I made a logo out of standard vinyl from my plotter and asked If he could put the log on when it goes for ano. He said it can be done but wants to charge me 50.00 to do it. Is this hard work. do you have to mask the gun or do you just apply the logo between the ano bath and colour bath. I will be getting a 2 colours done. green dust with black accents+logo.

$50 is my minimum for ano graphics, but then I'm the one doing the computer graphics, and the cutting.
Ano graphics are not easy, especially if there are multiple colors.
If you supplied the masks, and the graphic color is silver (clear) on a colored background, then $50 seems steep.
If your graphic is color on a colored background, then $50 is probably about right.
Can you post a PS of what it will look like?

thank for your reply. the logo is just the smartparts cross logo for my shocker. I asked for a green black fade with the logo color of the fade. Can you explain how he is going to do this. Just curious.

    Strip, prep and ano normally.
Dye the entire part the color of the logo.
Prepare and apply the mask (requires mounting to a backer).
    Bleach/acid wash the remaining dye.
    Dye the two-color fade.
    Seal the entire part.
Remove the mask & clean with lacquer thinner.
    Seal some more.
Wipe the parts down with WD40.

I've simplified the steps... the actual process takes some knowledge and skill. It's not as easy as it sounds.
