Anybody know any tricks for anodizing aluminum that has been welded? I am working on a possible contract if I can figure out how to get the heat effected zones to anodize about the same color as the rest of the aluminum.

I read something about that somewhere and I can't seem to find it now.
I believe it said that this can be minimized (not eliminated) by using 5xxx series welding rod and the lowest welding temperature (current) that you can get away with. I don't know if you have this option, but certain aluminum brazing process joints anodize and dye perfectly on 6061, they disappear. I've never seen this in any aluminum welding process other than CDW. |
