Dye problems - Plating Powder Coating Buffing Anodizing

my black dyes have been coming out pretty pale recently and i think it may be the dye. I've checked the Ph and ajusted it to 5.5 -6.0, but the part still comes out pale. Is there any way to check to see how much dye is left in the tank.

There is not a way to check or test the dye concentration. It usually depends on the age, amount of use and surface area of the parts dyed. SS

On average about how much square footage of part are we talking about for a 45 gallon tank?

I use quite a few different colors and haven't used any particular color enough to deplete the dye. Maybe one of the other guys can help on that question. If your running 20% acid, the pale color could be caused from too thin a coating and /or pore size too large to hold enough dye for a dark black. SS
