Default Anodising, cooling effect?

I visit a motorcycle board and one of the common questions is, "will powder coating hinder my engine cooling?'' I suggest to anodize the cylinder barrels on an aircooled engine to get the desired look but not the retained heat. Does anodizing help or hinder aircooled motorcycle engines?
Cheers, 50gary

Almost all coatings effect cooling but most do not hinder heat dissipation to a large degree. Since the early days of motorcycles, the aluminum parts have been coated to protect against oxidation. The manufacturers PC or clear coat engine parts so it can't be too detrimental. The one problem with anodizing those parts is the majority of them are cast aluminum, which can be very difficult if not next to impossible to anodize due to their material makeup. SS
