I just had a thought... I work at a body shop and own a stud welder. Could that be used to weld Al. wire to the part like a Sput-Welder? Maybe like clip leads to the outside ring for the ground and put the wire into the tip? Any body men out there?

I'm not a body man. I've tried using a MIG welder by fitting .046 alum wire into the electrode and dialing the voltage all the way down, but it always vaporizes the wire. My MIG supposedly bottoms at 35 amps, so I suspect you'll have pretty much the same result, but if you already have the stud welder, would it hurt anything to give it a try?
