Question amps / sq. in.

Are the amps per sqare inch calculated as 144 sq. in. on a plate of 12"x12"x1/2" or at 312 sq. in. ?

Yip...Total surface area, meaning both sides of the 12"x12" plate.

Ohhh.....Acid, now you're just nit-picking! LoL...Good call bud! I sometimes take things for granted. I knew that - I took it for granted that the reader would...That's why you're so darn good at this Acid...So darn good!

Cheers!

Thanks, I figured that but wasn't sure if I was being told correctly or not. You know how communication is in this world, nobody really says what they mean. Anyway, being new to this forum, how does one delete the original question that I posted.

Thanks guys, I just thought that I would unclog the mail. Nothing to be ashamed about here. LOL. Hey one more question. When I remove the parts from the anodizing tank, it tends to be a little chalky if you would. Is that because the acid isn't balanced or something else?

1. What is the temperature of the electrolyte?
2. What current density (ASF) are you anodizing at?
3. What is the surface area and how long are you anodizing for?
4. What is the acid concentration (% by volume) of the electrolyte.

Answer the above and perhaps one of us can answer your intial question.

By 'chalky', could it also be described as 'cloudy'?
When I'm anodizing, I get bubbles that form on the cathodes and get swirled by the agitation. When I'm doing larger surface areas, it gets going so good that you can't see very far into the tank, then begins to clear when I've removed power.
If that's what you're seeing, it's nothing to worry about - actually I like seeing it, tells me lotsa stuff happnin. In reality I don't think it's terribly conclusive, I've done many runs that don't look very active but dye just as well.
