Default Vinyl Printers/tatoos

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you would suggest for making tatoos. I have heard that you can get printers that will cut out a sheet of vinyl, got any links for them/ good/bad brands.

Also, my Mastech PS is on the way out(what a suprise ) What other brands are out there that dont suck quite so much? And if Mastechs are always failing, why does caswell stull recomend them?

Thanks, Brendan Larrabee

Ive got a rapid rectifier. I guess its the nike of shoes, you pay a lot of the brand name. So far its a nice machine american made no problems.

Honest opinion, you gan get a beefy rectifier for a good price on e-bay.

Also your vinyl printer you can find on e-bay as well. Expect to pay $800.
And yes, getting vinyl cut is what most here use for extensive masking.

I don't know anything about vinyl cutters, but I've been looking at this one:

I know Roland's been a name in plotters forever.

That is a starter set that may satisfy your needs. The problem will be when you get into the programing. The program that comes with those hobby cutters is very basic. In order to convert a Jpeg or a Bitmap drawing into a sticker, it has to be vectored. It can be hand traced with basic programs, but automatic tracing is what you're after. I just picked up Corel draw X3. It has auto-trace, and comes with a bunch of other stuff (Corel owns Photoshop now, I believe) like Corel paint, and over 1000 fonts. It is a $400 program, but if you search it on the web, and look for achedemic versions (if you are a student, or the parent of one) which can be purchaced for less than $100.
I watched my local craigslist, and found a used 24 inch Roland, with a complete windows 2000 computer, some basic software, and 20 different rolls of vinyl for (I'm almost ashamed to say) $300. They're out there if you look.
