Greetings Larry,
Congrats on your progress. As for adjusting Ph values I use Muriatic acid to lower the Ph and Ammonia to raise the Ph values. Using a plastic syringe (w/o needle) with a 3 gal Dye level, it takes about 20 drops of either to increment the Ph value +-.1 with a good stir after a "set" of drops before measuring, and rinsing the electronic Ph tester bulb with De-Ion water b/t successive measurements. And don't forget to record the Ph value for your chosen dye on each ano run. As an example for my system; using Black dye I ran test batches from 5.7, 6.2, 6.4, & 6.7. Another post of mine depicts the "blueness" of the results for my system at Ph levels 6.2 and lower with a Ph at 6.4 resulting in an optimized color saturation in my opinion. I have just begun my red dye optimization and I immediately set the Ph value to 6.4, based on the opinions gleaned from archived posts and my own intuition. There are many excellent posts depicting the dye issue and I learned a great deal from reviewing them. Black and Red dye results have been keenly dissected by some knoweledgeable participants in this forum. archi |
