right now i am almost ready to set up a tank for anodizing some pendents. my plan is use tapered nylon screw with a titanium wire warped on it to get a good connection.
The wire will be exposed to lye, deox desmut, and the bath. http://www.smallparts.com has lots of titanium wire without a awful minimum order. But the wire is grade 5 containing 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. I am wondering if the other metals in this alloy will prevent me from using this wire over and over. |

I don't know about the titanium grade, but I'm not having any problems using nylon hardware in the 1:3 ratio. A couple of my screw/nut pairs have probably been through the process over a dozen times by now (from deox through seal) and haven't melted yet. I haven't tried them in the stripper. On one occasion I used a nylon screw in acid left at battery acid strength and the screw did turn into a little lump.
I used nylon tie wraps to lash my last agitation pump to a piece of PVC pipe. The tie wraps outlasted the pump's impeller, somewhere around 30-40 hours' runtime. I'd be hesitant to use nylon on something that stays in the tank 24/7, but IMHO it does ok for ano runs at 1:3 bat acid concentration. |

if lye was used a a striper it would be fine.
http://www.huntingdonfusion.com/down...resistance.pdf if i was to kinda coil up the wire at one end into a taper and put it on the pendent sung would it be sufficient i would I still wana go with the fasteners? |

You can get a good connection doing things like that. I think fastening is best when possible, but I've anodized a lot of pieces with Ti wire through a hole and a toothpick or other object jammed up against it to hold it in place. Many here do things like double the wire back to use its spring action, but I haven't tried that myself.

The wire I've been getting is type 1-2 and type 2. I understand it is the most pure titanium alloy, but a bit softer than other alloys. Also, temper makes a big difference in hardness. The wire I get is easily shaped with pliers, and can be threaded too.
I use the wire bent back onto itself to make an inside spring... works great, and is an instant connection. Never lost a connection yet after going to Ti. BTW, we are starting another Ti order... maybe you want to get in on it. Right now, both sizes are on back order, but we could pre-order some to make sure it get's brought in designated for us. http://forum.caswellplating.com/show...6506#post26506
