Default Selecting power supply

Hi, I'm new to the board. This is a great site, the most amount of useful material I've found on anodizing thus far, thank you very much! I'm working on a large anodizing machine for my college and would appreciate it if you folks could help me out on the way.

Are the platers and rectifiers the same thing? What is the difference? I will need approximately 25 amps as my anodizing job is 600 square inches.

Would the rect25 be good for this?

Welcome,
Are the platers and the rectifiers the same thing? Yes and No. They both convert AC to DC. The plating rectifiers work in constant voltage mode only. They are not good for anodizing due to this and their limited voltage output. You will need a power supply that works in CC/CV (constant current/ constant voltage) and for a 6ASF CD at least 18V to be on the safe side. If you have a part with 600" square SA, you can drop to a 4.5 to 5.0 CD and get by with a 20A PS. It will just take a little longer to do the same thickness coating.

as sswee said basically anything would work to a certain extent, it would just take longer. I may have a 20 amp/20 volt or a 30 amp/60 volt cc/cv power supply that i might be able to sell if need be.
