Default stainless probes

Well i am finally running my first batch.

Just so you guys my understand some of my background, I am a machinist with a degree in electronics. so that said, you may understand my drive for a setup that leaves no room for guessing.

My first thing to attack is all these different tank temps. To that end, can i put SS clad probes in any/all of my tanks without any problems? thay could be removed when done, but would like to leave them in during the whole process.

If I can, of if I can find a more suitable probe, i can hook them to a controller board i made some time back to keep all the tanks at the correct temp.

Maybe this is a little more then needed, but as i said, i can't stand variables which can be controlled without constant checking by me.

I will also want to have one in my ano tank. I have a HVAC friend helping me deal with the cooling problems i expect to have. I expect this from reading about so many ways to cool it down.

Thanks

304 Stainless is pretty poor in sulfuric acid. 316 is much better, but still is slowly damaged. If your probes are 316, and you remove them when not in use, they'll probably be fine. Maybe coat them in a thin layer of epoxy or something that's more acid resistant than stainless?

OK, got it for the ano, any ideas about the rest of the tanks? Will 304 work no prob? I can use the RTD from my heat controller that came with the kit for the ano.

It died anyway on the first use. Funny i had 2 300W heaters plugged in. Catalog says plug in up to 3. Oh well, $17.00 for a RTD is CHEAP. I may buy more just for that reason. I can't seem to be able to find any plastic ones like it.

SS should be fine for the rest of the tanks. Honestly, I haven't tried it with the de-smut, but that is the only other tank the at may give you problems.
Caswell sells an epoxy coating for fuel tanks that is supposed to be acid resistant. Might check into that.
