Had a large job for a customer (90 peices). He insisted he need them by a specific date. The parts were done 3 days early. Now 45 days later he has not picked them up, and wont return calls. Other people have found out what I have and want to buy them. Being I work out of my garage I dont have any signs or anything saying that parts should be picked up withen 30 days. What would you do??

That's a bummer, but I wouldn't sell the parts out from under him just yet. I'd keep trying to ontact him, and honestly, I would give him 3 months until having to re-coup your money a different way. Sometimes people say I'm too nice.

hurricaneracing,
Send him a certified letter return receipt requested explaining to him what will happen if he doesn't pay for and pick up his parts. Check with your local BBB and see what they have to say. If it's a company then they would have something on the Co. There are places that you can get free legal advise, check into that. Lastly take it to small claims court, if it meets the dollar criteria for your state. John |

45 days later is too late. This man has dropped you in it.
Don't waste your time with a lawyer, you'll only waste money. Those people just feed on this sort of problem. You don't need to document anything. He hasn't picked up the product, as promised. You now own the parts. Sell them and recoup your loss as fast as possible. Learn a lesson from this. Post your terms on your shingle. 3 months? - not on my watch. Get this gone NOW!!!!

Let us know how you get on.
You may wish to consider that if your costs are eg $1000 and you get $2000 for the goods, then technically that money belongs to him. I wouldn't spend that until you have sent him a registered letter telling him what you've done, and giving him a time limit to contact you.

I don't really like the idea of talking to an attorney either, BUT I'd rather spend a few bucks and do it the right way than have the guy sue me later on. Then it will really cost you some bucks! PYA (Protect your ass)! Nuff said. John |

Do you know where he lives? Is it someplace near you where you can drop by his place? If not send off a registered letter as stated in other posts. What are the parts if you don't mind me asking?
Later, Tim |

How much money are wa talking about here? What is the value of the work you did?
What is the value of the actual finished parts?

I have an idea where he lives. I have actually been on his street which is about 10 houses but havent cought him there yet, I have seen him in town but not been able to catch him stopped anywhere. Everytime I call he says he will be by tomorrow with more work...
I feel I gave him a fair price 10.00 for the larger peices and 5.00 for the smaller. The parts go to a skyski. I have found a source to move them but have no idea the value. Maybe I am asking for too much what do you think? |
