I've never tried (or heard of) spot welding aluminum.
I have anodized mig welded aluminum... it shows up as a slightly different color, but probably due to alloy differences.
Give it a try and let us know how it looks.

I spot welded my electrical connections when I first started using a Miller spot welder. What are you trying to find out?

My late friend, Paul Yursis (inventor of LCD anodizing) and I often discussed repairing spot welding of an ano film.

We concurred it was easier to slightly abrade the area welded to remove smut, then coat it with something like VHT CLear Lacquer, a nitro-cellulose lacquer.

By trying to locally anodize an area with a wand, you stood the chance of burning off the ano from the surrounding area. You certainly did not have any control on the growth of the film, pore size and tube thickness would be, at best, a joke. Forget dying it.

It would be better off to strip ALL the ano, and start again.

Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news.

Of course, where there is a will, there is a way. If you find the way, let us know!
