anodizing new parts - Plating Powder Coating Buffing Anodizing

I want to anodize and dye new paint ball gun barrels, they are new and natural (polished aluminum) what is the best way to approach cleaning up to accept dye from my kit without messing up the factory polished finish? Just a note, I'm new to the forum, and have been REALLY IMPRESSED with the fast and usefull answers to my questions, thanks a bunch, Patriots kicked butt in the Superbowl!!!

Hmmm, you lost me here. Not sure what you mean by "cleaning up". If the aluminum is polished, then the resulting anodize layer will also have a polished look. It shouldn't mess up the original polished finish.

The barrels are factory new and sealed, will the stripper from my kit get them ready to dye, or do I need to use paint remover to remove the sealer and repolish etc thanks again, Dennis

Ok - clarification required

1. The barrels are new/NOT anodized/polished aluminum, right?
2. You say that they're sealed...not sure if you mean anodized and sealed, or sealed with tape etc.?
3. If they've not been anodized, then simply polish, degrease, anodize, color and seal.
4. If they have been anodized, strip the anodize layer with the stripper, polish, degrease, anodize, color and seal.

They are new, in a tube, they come with a mirror finish and are not dyed, you have been a lot of help, I guess the answer to be sure of good results would be a light bead blast, polish and proceed with normal anodize/dye/seal. thanks again. Dennis

[/quote] I wouldn\'t beed blast them..Why not just strip them and then polish,desmut,anodize,dye,seal.
