Default Sealing grey BL dyes?

Hello, has anyone sealed caswell's grey BL with LT sealer. Just wondering since the site says not to. I have not had the best results with the high temp sealer, and perfer the LT sealer. And what would be the reason why it can't be used to seal after that color?

Thanks,
Shane

The high temp is far superior. The LT sealer just won't hold some colors in.
What problems have you had with high temp?

I have only used it twice, and each time the surface was dull, and keeping the sealer boiling long enough for a couple racks is troubling, plus the evaporation of the sealer. I use an LT sealer from Ron Newman that I have great results with. I do still have about a half of bag left of Caswell's high temp sealer. I quess I will try it again, any pointer on getting good results?

Thanks,
Shane

Shane,

You answered your own question without even knowing it. DO NOT boil the sealer! Get her up to 190 degrees that's all. If you had it at a rolling boil when the parts hit it there went your color and here came your dull surface.

LAter,
Tim

It says to boil it in the instructions.

Boil mine all the time with good results. You will have a greater moisture loss, but the results are fine. Just add more distilled water when you're done.
I usually get mine boiling, then turn down the heat to just below a boil, then add the parts (just don't use an aluminum pot).
If you have color loss, or have a chalky surface, the problem may be over-anodizing, or acid too strong.
What current density do you ano at?
Are you using the 720 rule?
What is your acid/ water ratio?
Are you using real ano dyes?
Do you use a CC power source?
What alloys?

I started out using what I learned from Newman's site... it was a good start, but the LCD method is far supperior with much more repeatable results.
