If that is an anodized graphic, it will take more than just etching the part... you'll need to cut a mask and apply it during the dye process of the ano job.
You don't want to simply remove the ano in a pattern using etch and masking... it will leave the metal unprotected.
    I do things.

Possible done with laser engraving, but that process will leave a very rough feel at the light areas.
If you can feel the edge of the graphic, it's etched, sandblasted, or lasered.
If there is no edge, then it's an anodized graphic.
Personally, I would do an anodized graphic for that effect.
    I do things.

No I don't believe it was laser engraving, laser engraving is fine on flat serfaces but doing a contoured surface you will an uneven finish. This was some sort of chemical etching..

    Thnx...

After looking over Extreme's website I am going to say it sandblasted. Looking at the other stuff they have pictures of. While it could be lazered using a set up with a CNC rotary table judging by the larger parts they have pics of I still say it's sandblasted etched. I mask is cut first of course. Have you guys ever seen the custom etching on auto glass? And to think most of it is done freehand.

    Tim

Some parts definetly look like sandblasting but they also show pictures of their ventilated etching booth on the about us page so that leads me to believe some sort of chemical etching is taking place as well.
