Default Voltage doesnīt seem right.

Last week I did a couple of runs and the pieces came out very good. I got that deep orange color I was looking for. I ran it at 6 ASF for two hours to get a 1 mil thickness of ano. The voltage was around 11 v the entire run.

This weekend I did two runs but none of them were any good. The dye didnt get "deep", the orange looked more like gold. I had exactly the same calculations and also 6 ASF for two hours.
The pieces were also about the same size as the ones the week before. On the voltage reading on my PS it only came up to about 3-5V but the current was constant.

I am absolutely sure that there were good connections.

Also, isnīt the voltage suppose to increase during the run? On my PS the current is consistens but the voltage often decrease during the run.

What could be the problem? Bad PS?
Really epreciate your input because this is frustrating!

Ano bath temperature will make a huge difference in resistance and pore size.
What were your temperatures?

the temp were exacly the same as the week before! 20 C (wich I think is about 70 F)

The dye bath also was exacly the same as the week before. about 65 C.

Im really clueless!

I am thinking maybe I have done some faulty adjustment on my PS, I am trying to figure out the funktions on it using the manual but I am not totally clear with what it all means.

Could someone explain to me what "u" is for? Im also a bit unclear about the power setting function.

(itīs a bit hard when eng isnīt the mother tounge)

Thanks

It's hard to explain some equipment without it being in front of you. You want to set the Voltage to max and adjust the current to what is calculated for the size parts. The voltage should climb higher quickly in the beginning. It should slow down at about 15 to 20 minutes then climb slowly for most if not all the run. The type of material will effect how the quickly voltage climbs.

Yes thatīs the way I understood it and thatīs how I did. However in all my runs the voltage stops increasing after about 15 min and then is constant + - ― volt. I donīt get that slow but steady increase that should occur due to the increased resistance.

And I really donīt get what they mean in the underlined parts of the manual.

Ill have to play with it this weekend to see if I can get it right, if I can set a maxiumum limit on power and voltage

Glad Im not the only one! Ill see if I can get it right today. Played with it yesterday and it seems like if you adjust the power setting the Amps increase or decrease accordingly... so donīt really know why its there since it has more or less the same function.

Thankīs for tryin!
