I need anodize some .050 sheet to a very light gold color. Most of the parts are flat; they're just cut to shape from the sheet. One part has 2 90* bends and a crimped edge. The parts need to have a nice, smooth finish when done.
Questions: - Is there a "preferable" alloy? Are there ones to avoid? The most widely available choices seem to be 5005, 5052, and 6061. I've heard different, completely contradictory things about the suitability of each (doesn't matter, 6061 is best, use 5005 AQ, you'll get streaks with the wrong alloy, etc.). - Where can I get .050 polished sheets? All that I can find is .062. I'd *really* prefer to use .050 if I can get it, but I don't want to polish it myself either. Thanks much for any help. |
